The Dude Fest

wp_dudefest.jpg

The Dude Fest was created after the world famous, Lebowksi Fest to honor and celebrates all things related to the Coen Brothers’ cult classic, The Big Lebowski. The event takes place in outside of Fremont Studios at the Fremont Outdoor Movies venue every August. The Movie Party typically includes a band, tons of White Russians and a screening of the film among many in costume.

White Russians are the ceremonial beverage of choice and fans of all ages and walks of life get together for this event where the focus is the fans, also known as “Achievers” – and proud we are of all of them.

The inaugural Seattle Street Food Festival, slated for August 10 in Cal Anderson Park, has an official lineup, and more details about how exactly things will go down at this massive congregation of trucks, carts, booths, and other up-and-coming food outfits—plus plenty of well-known chefs and restaurants.

Organizer Ryan Reiter, also the guy behind the Mobile Food Rodeo food truck gatherings, says the idea is to embrace all kinds of street food, from little booths like Beanfish, which makes taiyaki at the Fremont market, to heavy hitters like the snappily outfitted Barking Frog Mobile Kitchen. Reiter is still adding vendors, and says that brick-and-mortar joints like Li'l Woody's, Stumbling Goat, Po Dog, Thai Curry Simple, and Marination will also have booths or be involved in some way. Keep an eye on the website as this evolves.

The massive lineup listed below will be on hand from 5 to 11pm, creating a night market ambience as the sun goes down. Admission is free (duh, you pay for the food you buy), though starting June 30 you can get a priority line ticket for $35, or $65 premiere pass that lets you skip lines all day long.

For the last 20 years, around dusk on warm  saturday summer evenings, adventurous people of all ages came  bedecked with lawn chairs, rubber boats, sofas, costumes and fun attire to join in this zany Fremont  pastime.

Fremont Outdoor Movies is a community-spirited big screen celebration of pop classics, cult favorites, independent film, video shorts and high camp old fashioned summer fun.

Co-founded by myself from the Fremont Market and Charlotte Buchanan from the old GlamOrama, the movies are a cross between old-time matinees, Cinema Paradiso and the vanishing All-American drive-in.

Here too, the audience is often the best part of the show. It’s the original interactive theater where people are actually encouraged to join in the atmosphere of irreverent humor and laid back good times.

The Mobile Food Rodeo started out one September afternoon with 25 food trucks in a small parking lot in Seattle on a cool September afternoon.

In just three years, it has grown into the largest food truck food festival in the United States showcasing over 100 food trucks annually. The fun kick off Saturday, May 3rd for our Cinco De Mayo block party and taco truck showdown, TACO LIBRE.

In 2013, the Mobile Food Rodeo festivals attracted over 87,000 people in just three days of operation in some of Seattle’s most desirable neighborhoods like Capitol Hill, South Lake Union and Fremont for an alfresco, laid, back irreverent food and beverage experience.

It has helped support over 200 small businesses by offering an affordable market place, as well as serving as an incubator for entrepreneurs to share their culinary talents within their respective communities.
